SEVEN STAKES RACES ON TAP FOR CLOSING DAY
Eleven races highlight the closing day card here at Wyoming Downs for the 2007 meet. The action packed day features seven stakes or handicap races, a free concert after the races and free giveaways over the course of the day at the track. A field of ten, three year olds make up the featured tenth race, the 100 yard Don Pedro Dash, as Bf Makin A Move, looks to make it three in row breaking out of post position number six . This three year gelding, trained by Ron Moosman, won the first of two trial races here back on August 5th, covering the length of the football field in just under seven seconds. Tough competition arises from both the inside and outside posts as Cartella Star, the winner of the other trial on August 5th, and BG Dudewheresmyspots, the runner up look to make a trip to the winners circle. Ockley Green, a two time winner already here at Wyoming Downs, looks to make it three in a row and four out of the last five in the start of the $2 Pick 6 in Race 5. Leading Jockey Cam Colledge and trainer Mike Taylor will send this four year old out against Primecat, who looks to win for the first time since July 2006, in the 5-1/2 furlong Bettie Bullock Handicap. Con Astle, looks to make it back to back wins in the 870 yards Uinta County All Breed Handicap slated for the ninth race on Saturday’s card. Breaking from the outside, Con Astle, faces a field of six other three years old and older, including Requested Beduino and Savannahs Night, all who will try to take aim at the $4,600 purse. In the eleventh and final race of the 2007 meet, Cut Class, looks for the winners circle in the Honorary Mile Handicap. Cut Class, ridden by Shaunda Larsen has won two in a row since a third place finish back on opening day in the Inaugural Handicap. City Spirit, a Carson City colt, shipping in from Emerald Downs, looks to be the class of the race, as Justin Vanderwoude gets the call to guide this five year old around the one mile oval. Saturday features a mandatory payout in the $2 Pick 6, starting with race five. If no one picks all six selections in races 5-10, the pool will be forced out to those with the most correct winning numbers. |
